PC security related question?

I have an HP Pavillion desktop PC running windows Vista. I've had my computer for over 4yrs and have been able to maintain security and speed very well in that time, I'm no computer expert but I would say that I am well above average. However, a few months ago a problem arose that I cannot figure out and I was hoping that someone could help me. around November last year a Partition calling itself Q: Drive showed up. On my computer I have my main partition C:Drive and a recovery partition D:Drive. I try to open it and I am told that 'Q:/ is not accesible, access is denied'. I cannot see how large or small the partition is as I am told that I do not have permision, I cannot take ownership of the drive and ign permissions myself. I have tried re-installing and recovering my system numerous times from basic recovery to a complete re-format of my main C:Drive, however after a few days no matter what anti-malware, anti-virus and firewall I use this strange Q:/Drive always re-surfaces. This last time that I recovered my system I paid close attention to windows updates, the software I had re-installed and any updates for this software, to see if it was something attached to an update and I am pretty much 100% sure that whatever it is, it is not the result of an update that created this drive after installing. Please, please I am so frustrated, has anyone heard of this b4? Have any insight on what this might b? and please any advice on what to do/try would be greatly appreciated. Kind Regards, Frustrated PC User (Robbie)
