URGENT: can you get sick from eating carpet?

i just found my 6 year old munching on a small berber sample. he got it from my pile that i used to show my clients and he's devoured about 1/4 of the sheet over the course of week or so(from what he tells me). he seems to be fine, but does he need his stomach pumped or anything like that? thank you.
